My Crave List: Thanksgiving Gadgets

by Amanda

I was just given the go-ahead to take the reins for our family’s Thanksgiving dinner. It’s a job I begged for am honored to do. Even though it’s still a few weeks away, I am already in full-on planning mode and making lists on every piece of scrap paper I can find during the day. I’m also spending entirely way too much time looking at Thanksgiving cooking tools…and then convincing myself I need them.

Taylor Digital Scale & Measuring Cup ($39.95) from Williams-Sonoma

You can’t ever be too precise when taking on Thanksgiving dinner.

Pie Gate ($5.95) by Sur La Table

1) It’s named “Pie Gate.” 2) Don’t you hate when the pie guts spill into the middle after a slice gets cut?

foodpod ($15.00) by fusionbrands

No renegade food with this crazy capsule. Now that’s something to be thankful for.

Alright, I need Thanksgiving meal planning advice. Favorite recipes? Rookie mistakes I should avoid making?

My Crave List: A Tea Kettle

by Amanda

Every week, I plan to highlight some fun foodie product I think I need. And when I say need, I mean I’m-doing-okay-without-it-but-when-I-have-the-space-and-money-I-would-like-this…very much.

This week? Tea kettles! I currently use the microwave more than I like, and it doesn’t even do a good job at keeping the water warm when I’m taking my time sipping my tea. And my coffee maker always lets stray coffee grounds infiltrate the pot when I’m only trying to brew hot water. Luckily, my roommate lets me use her single-cup Keurig when I’m hot for tea. Still, it would be nice to make a big pot of tea how tea was intended to be made.

Enter in my top contenders for my dream kettle:

Teavana Alasdair Glass Tea Kettle ($39.95) from Teavana

Do you think I can convince people it’s invisible?

Kohl'sBonJour Stainless Steel Teakettle ($69.99) from Kohl’s

Oo la la! I feel like this tea kettle could be stylish in any place or time.

Giraffe tea kettleGiraffe Whistling Tea Kettle ($36.95) from Supreme Housewares via Amazon.com

Okay. I know I’m supposed to be transitioning into adulthood, but I really, really want this one.

Do you have a tea kettle? What other ones should have made the list?
